"Communion within ones own sacred heart is what each is fundamentally seeking."

About

Matthew Hara is a student of life, mentor, musician, conscious builder, and yogi, who’s been passionately dedicated to raising consciousness for the past 24 years. He has lived internationally for most of that time, following his path through many inspirations and traditions of sacred knowledge. He grew up between small towns in the mountains and coast of Northern CA, which gave him a deep love for the dynamics of nature. Like many kids in these regions, he struggled with depression, and substance abuse from a very young age. At the age of 20, a profound experience with yoga/meditation set him on a new path.. one of passion, clarity, and a fiery devotion to discover inner freedom. His first trip to India at 23 years forever changed him, and for the next 17 years, he returned annually to study with and serve alongside monks, yogis, and spiritual masters. His journey has been one of deep transformation and service. Not just in the “spiritual” realms but on a ground level as well, especially integrating such attention in his building/carpentry business. He’s shared extensively in classes, retreats, and seminars the yogic tools, and Universal principles which were impactful for him and his internal freedom. He helps to support growth and awakening in receptive individuals through the power of Music, Universal wisdom and Sacred heart communion.Matthew Hara is a student of life, mentor, musician, conscious builder, and yogi, who’s been passionately dedicated to raising consciousness for the past 24 years. “My passion is to serve the sacred heart and the rise of human consciousness. The gifts I’ve received on my path, are impossible to contain. I’m here to walk wit, and guide receptive beings toward internal freedom. Grace, and the Universal Principles are here for us all to elevate together like never before.”

Music

Matthew’s music is a reflection of his spiritual path. He did not grow up in a musical environment, but after being introduced to Mantra yoga in 2001 the foundation for his musical expression was set. Immediately he felt a deep resonance and passion to chant, much to the dismay of many unaccustomed family members. This quickly became a devout daily practice, and a relentless sound coming from his car stereo. While traveling and surfing internationally an Australian friend taught him a few guitar chords, and over the years he started to integrate rhythm to support his mantras. For a long time, his music remained a personal practice of devotion between himself and God. It still is, but he now shares his music publicly as an offering of communion, and an invitation to connect with the Divine through the power of artistic expression, shared voice, and heart song. The root of Matthew’s music is Prayer.. blending mantra, intention, and poetic insight, to create a potent space of inspiration, revelation and Oneness.

Mentorship

Matthew’s path of mentorship emerged naturally from his years of devotion to truth and self-inquiry. Since 2003, he has studied with revered spiritual teachers such as Sri Amma Bhagavan, Mooji, Ammaji, and many other luminaries in their respected fields. From 2004-2019 he spent much of his time in India and traveling abroad, often immersed at an international school devoted to Awakening and Higher learning as a student and sevak. He spent months each year deep in personal retreat and immersed in Sadhana, but as he grew on his path, service to others took precedence. For many of those years he spent 6 months at a time, working closely alongside monks, working 12-16 hours a day to support thousands of International seekers through their spiritual deep dives.

As a co-founder of Oneness Youth he mentored young adults across North America, fostering self-awareness, self love and empowerment. Encouraged by his teachers in India, since 2005 he has shared publicly his experiences of Awakening and the tools which helped him. This continued to gain traction, and eventually spread into the sharing of countless international retreats, classes, and one-on-one sessions. He has witnessed and helped guide thousands of people through their transformative journeys. His mentorship is down-to-earth, deeply intuitive, and rooted in practical wisdom. He meets people where they are, humbly offering guidance that is both clear and direct, promoting alignment with truth and connection with Grace.

“The journey of inner transformation is one we are all called to take, and there is nothing more crucial at this particular time. While it can be exhilarating, it can also be overwhelming and challenging to the core. In such times, mentors and guides can be invaluable in helping us navigate this path.”

Yoga

For the past 24 years, Matthew has studied, practiced, and shared yoga for its richly transformative potential. Immersed in both the ancient traditions of India, as well as modern expressions from esteemed Western teachers. He has cultivated a unique approach, one that integrates Yoga’s wisdom into practical applications and everyday life. His crafted teaching style blends humor, clear intention, and a deep understanding of the interplay between effort and surrender. He emphasizes the foundational principles of yoga, accessible to all at any level, applicable to all arenas of life. On the mat he weaves together various branches of the practice to create a holistic, integrative, and expansive experience. Matthew believes that fundamentally yoga is about cultivating the ability to meet ourselves over and again. From the place of embodied truth, healing and evolution unfold very naturally.

He holds certifications from Surrinder Singh at Swasthi Yoga shala India, and has studied under master teachers such as Noah Maze, Sianna Sherman, Kofi Busia, John Friend, Douglas Brookes, and many others. Additionally, he is an Advanced Oneness Trainer, with certifications in Tai Yoga Massage and Tairopractic body work.

“Yoga is a bridge between the Individual and the Universal, which is our innate design and continuous potential. It helps us to unlearn, align and re-sensitize oneself into the wholeness of being. It is a path of activating and embodying our spiritual essence.”

Matthew’s Awakening journey

I grew up in Northern California, between Tahoe and Santa Cruz which bridged a deep connection to the mountains and sea. Nature kept me sane amidst a heavy internal world from the earliest days I can remember. I was extremely sensitive and empathic, but this sensitivity felt like a burden. I was tormented by a spirit incessantly at night in the first house I grew up in on Donner summit. As my mental capacity grew in its ability to perceive the world, I was haunted by the way we treated nature and the unquenching, insanity I saw in the trajectory of our society.

This all led to depression from a very young age and I was literally referred to as “Oscar the grouch” by my immediate family. By the age of 14, I turned to drugs and alcohol to escape my internal agony and found temporary freedom in being drunk or high or both. I severely abused drugs and alcohol, using before and during school, selling drugs to fuel my high, completely blacking out regularly.

At 20, while living in San Diego and spending my days surfing and partying, Grace found me. A book and a spontaneous expanded state during my very first yoga class on the beach awakened something profound within me. I had glimpsed a deep and true state of freedom while sober, and from that moment a fierce seeker was born.

This passion led me to travel the world, immersing myself in sacred places, studying within different traditions, rigorous spiritual practices, and incessant reading. At 23, I met my Guru in India. From the moment I laid my eyes on him, everything changed. He guided me through profound experiences that opened me to truths I’d only glimpsed or read about. These experiences were completely life-altering. Experiences of intense expansion, clairvoyance, encounters with divine beings, remote viewing etc, all extended even into my dreams, where for many years I was powerfully guided to cultivate inter-dimensional astral travel.

With these expansions came intense inner work. My Guru guided me to confront suffering at its core, not just in convenient moments, but in every aspect of my being and in every arena of my life. This journey took me deep into healing, even as far back as very conscious memories of my core wounds within the womb. At times, the process was so overwhelming I seriously considered suicide… But through it all, I grew stronger, facing myself fully, using it all to fuel Internal seeing.

Through these years of rigorous sadhana, yogic application, dark rooms, silence, retreats, and selfless service (seva) I continued to heal and transform, and serving others became a cornerstone of my journey. Very naturally my Guru’s mission “to awaken humanity” became my mission. I spent years working extremely long hours, supporting others on their paths, rejoicing in their breakthroughs, helping them in any way shape or form to support them on their internal journey. At the encouragement of my Guru and his monks I traveled extensively, sharing the principles and tools that had supported my growth. I was also guided to continue to serve peoples homes when in the West, through Carpentry/Building projects. The head monk taking me aside one day, urging me to continue to do my carpentry as “it is a very good form of yoga and will help keep you grounded”.

On February 11th, 2013, after 13 years of very focused, and relentless inner work, grace met me fully. I was liberated from the inner resistor, and shown the truth of who I am to such a degree that a permanent shift happened. This was not another awakened state or fleeting experience. The heavy internal resistance that had defined my life, and of which I had become so accustomed to feeling had dissolved. Along with it the seeker within me vanished. Everything was suddenly different, yet everything was the same. I went in and out of very heightened states for about 9 months afterwards until the state began to settle and integrate.

Since then, I’ve continued to walk a path of service, ever learning and growing, simply following my path, grounded in the understanding that freedom doesn’t depend on external circumstances or even the contents of one’s inner world, freedom ever resides in not resisting whats inside.. non resistance automatically Awakens our intrinsic energetic systems as we are then in alignment with truth. This is the path..

I share all this not to claim anything, or to teach anything, but to affirm that awakening is very real.. That Awakening is not a destination, nor is it an ending of one’s humanness, there are milestones, but there is no ending.. Awakening is not reserved for a select few, and it’s never the same for anyone. Awakening is the birthright of anyone willing to do the work to confront their inner world. This is the work that needs to be done, and is being done by the spiritual warriors of this planet. It is not an easy task, but it is the most rewarding and impactful for our shared external world.

To those who resonate, let’s continue to walk this path together, supporting and inspiring one and other, learning, evolving, and sharing life in truth and love.

Hari Om
